The DENMAN RAG and BONE fonds – May 1974 – July 1980 – 8 cm. of textual records

(A.18.3 & A.18.45 & A.19.1) – Loc. A-H-8  –  The Denman Rag and Bone was a Denman periodical first published in May 1974 as a monthly, within a year becoming bi-monthly and then soon after more or less quarterly. Thirty-five issues were produced in its lifetime. The Archives holds all 35 issues

The Rag and Bone was a 12pp. to 30pp. letter size, side stapled publication.

It was both an island newsletter and a literary publication containing news, announcements, fiction, poetry, opinion, editorials, recipes and letters, but no ads. It was originally free on island but later sold for 25 cents and then 35 cents.

The Rag and Bone was produced by a changing collective of people over the years. Des Kennedy and Manfred Rupp served as editors for some years and Sandy Kennedy was involved throughout the run.

Issues in (A.18.3) were in the existing Museum collection. Issues in (A.18.45) were donated by Ron Sakolsky with the exception of Issue No. 7 from Claire King. Issues in (A.19.1) were donated by Bill Engleson.
