LACON FAMILY fonds–1909-1945 – 2.0cm. diary plus transcript and 4 photo albums

This fonds contains 6 items. (A.22.01) – Loc.A-F-4 is 150 pp. leather bound diary/journal of Cyril Lacon’s covering parts of 1909-1910 in West Africa when he was a magistrate and the winter, spring of 1912-1913 on Denman Island. The diary was donated and transcribed by Peter Austin in 2021.

(A.22.02) – Loc.A-H-11 is the 40 pp. transcription of the above diary (A.22.01) done by Peter Austin

(A.23.18.a) – Loc. A-F-6 is a photo album with 84 small b/w photos of WW II British warships, their guns and planes. Also the palace in Sintra Portugal. It belonged to Chug Lacon, the commander and was donated by Mike Davidson, a stepson.

(A.23.18.b) – Loc. A-F-6  is a photo album with 52 small b/w photos of summer cabins on Horseshoe Island near the River Severn in Ontario, I believe, even though the album is titled “the Lacon Family in Britain” The album appears to have been C. (Cyril) Lacon’s, Chug’s uncle.

(A.23.18.c) – Loc. A-F-6  is a photo album of 100 b/w photos of the Lacon family in England and appears to date from about 1908. Some may be in Canada. The album probably belonged to Cyril Lacon.

(A.23.18.d) – Loc. A-F-6 is a photo album od approx.. 200 b/w photos and a few news clippings and cards. Photos of – Lacon properties in England – Cyril Lacon’s time in Nigeria 1909 – Denman Island house building 1911 to 1913 – Oxford 1906 to 1907 – WW I France Belg. 1914 to 1918 – Denman 1919 to 1921.
