BILLIE JOE IMLACH fonds – 1976-1985 – 1.5 cm. of textual records and photos
This fonds contains two items.
(A.18.24) – Loc.A-H-10 – Billie Joe Imlach Letter is a handwritten card addressed to the Museum from Billie Joe containing 4 photos taken in 1979 and 1985 of the last quilt made by the Women’s Institute and of the anchor sign at the ferry landing made by Bob Imlach.
(A.18.82) – Loc.A-B-1 – Tapping Puppets Album is a photo album of letters , clippings, and photos of Billie Joe and Bob Imlach’s Tapping Puppets. Steve Veness and the Imlachs performed on banjo, fiddle, and accordion, and presented puppet shows using puppets they made. The puppets tap danced and jigged to the music.
The album is 30 pp. and 25 x 32cm.
FLORENCE EMERTON fonds – 1944-1986 – 1.0 cm. scrapbook textual records and photos
(A.18.27) – Loc.A-H-1 – Lace Club Scrapbook is an 18×30 cm. 80pp. scrapbook of clippings, letters, photos, photocopies and ephemera put together by Florence Emerton detailing the history of the Denman Lace Club. The club was started in 1919 and lasted until at least 1999.There are photos and ephemera from various events held by the Lace club over the years.
GERTRUDE SWAN fonds – 1913-1982 – small child’s suitcase (35x23x10 cm.) of memorabilia, photos, textual records, textile
(A.18.83) – Loc .photo box – Gertrude Swan (McKay) memorabilia is a small child’s suitcase (broken) of photos (20) of the Swan family, school certificates of merit or graduation diplomas (12), albums of Gertrude and Sinkey’s wedding and 50th anniversary, needlepoint doilies, journals from 1923-24, 1967, and 1970. Also an obit for James Swan in 1982 and sewing material for mending.
GEORGE BEADNELL fonds – 1864 -2016 – 0.5 cm. of textual records and one CD containing 4 items and one flash drive containing 10 items
(A.19.12) – Loc.A-H-9 – George Beadnell family history is 10 pp. letter size emails of Beadnell family history, particularly concerning his wife Amy Beadnell. Death and marriage certificates.
These emails were initiated by Joan Smith and donated to the museum by her.
(A.19.16) – Loc.A-F-4 – George Beadnell history CD contains 4 items. 1. A scan of a small 41 pp. book written by George Beadnell in 1864 “The Physiology of Man, Life and Death”. 2. A scan of a 100 pp. journal/scrapbook of George Beadnell’s (1864-1872) containing handwritten notes on anatomy and newspaper clippings, ticket stubs, postage stamps and other ephemera. 3. A letter from Joan Smith (2016) explaining the CD’s contents. 4. A letter from Hilary Foskett to Rosemary Smith (2000) on Geo. Beadnell family history.
The CD was compiled and donated by Joan Smith.
(A.22.17) – Loc.A-F-4 – Beadnell diary, family history, and photos on flash drive contains 8 items. 1. Beadnell diary 1892, Liverpool to Denman; 2. Census records 1851-1891 following the Beadnells; 3. Notes in local papers on the Beadnells; 4. Dr. Beadnell’s journal 1864-1872 as a medical student, same as (A.19.16.2); 5. Fillongley photos; 6. Amy Bastin history by Joan Smith; 7. Dr. Beadnell probates, England; 8. Beadnell bios by Joan Smith

JACK HERBERT fonds–(1920-1950) approx. – 1.0 cm. photo album
This fonds contains 2 items.
(A.18.9) – Loc.A-F-2 – Herbert Photo Album is a small (14×20 cm.) album of mostly unidentified photos. Some of the photos appear to be from the Prairies. There are 24 photos in the album and another 10 in an envelope.
(A.18.70) – Loc.A-F-5 – Amy Claxton (Herbert) Diploma is an award given to Amy Claxton (Herbert) by the Italian Government in 1910 for her work in the 1908 earthquake in Italy.
It is a large (35x50cm.) decorative document glued to a cardboard backing.
JIM KIRK fonds-1994–2002 – 2.0 cm. of textual records
Jim Kirk fonds contains 2 items.
(A.18.7) – Loc.A-B-2 – My Ain Folk Revisited is Jim Kirk’s typed manuscript (2002) which was sent to the printers with the accompanying diskette. There is also an invoice from ABC Printers for the printing (2002), and a handwritten note from the heirs of Winnie Isbister giving Jim the right to quote from her book My Ain Folk.
(A.18.54) – Loc.A-F-4 – A Backward Glance 2006-1950 is a history of St. Saviours Anglican Church on Denman written by Jim Kirk. It is a 12 pp. 12×18 cm. booklet with color photos.
(A.21.5) – Loc.A-C-1 – This and That and Other Things by Jim Kirk is a 180 pp. softcover book with b/w photos self published around 2008. It is a mix of autobiography and local history, northern fur trader to Denman General Store owner.
(A.18.72) – Loc.A-H-10 – This item contains Jim’s typed histories for telephone service (1907-1993), hydro service (1957), and the general store 1912- 1993). It is a total of 9 letter size pages.
Shorter edited versions of these notes appear later in Jim’s book My Ain Folk Revisited.

LYNN THOMPSON fonds–1992-1999 – 1.5 cm. album of photos and one air photo
This fonds contains 2 items.
(A18.92) – museum 00.6.1 – Loc.A-B-2 – Photos of the Fence is an album of photos of the graffiti fence taken in the mid 1990’s. It is an 18 pp. album of 34 (10x15cm.) color photos. Included are 2 photos of Marcus Isbister on his little tractor.
Lynn Thompson also wrote articles in the Comox Valley newspapers.
(A.18.63) – Loc.A-F-2 – Aerial photo Denman is a 27×35 cm. colour photo of Denman taken from the air looking to the north over Denman. It was taken in 1994 before the logging that took place in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s
It is copyright by Lynn Thompson (handwritten) and came to the Archives from Leslie Dunsmore.
MARGIE GANG fonds–2019 – 0.5 cm. of textual records

(A.19.18) – Loc.A-H-9 or museum table – The Hippie Era on Denman is a 12 pp. letter size typed account of the 1970’s on Denman from the point of view of an American immigrant.
(A.19.19) – Loc.A-H-9 – Margie Gang history on Denman is a 9 pp. letter size biographical account of Margie’s life focusing on the 1970’s on Denman. This was a response to the Oral History project of 2019 collecting memories of Denman in the 70’s.
MEE FAMILY fonds–1905–2019 – 12 cm. of photos, textual records, books, photocopies
(A.20.24) – Loc.A-H-16 – Mee Family Archives contains various items from William (Bill) Mee’s family. Included are memorial books from the funerals of William Mee and Benjamin Malyea (William’s son-in-law), a wedding book from Benjamin and Brenda Mee’s (William’s daughter) wedding, an extensive genealogy of the Mee family with supporting documents, personal documents and letters from William, Benjamin, and Brenda.
Bill Mee lived on the south end of Denman Is. In the mid 2000’s. There is a park named after him.
The material was donated by Rhoda Ross, a friend of Brenda’s, after Brenda passed away.
PADDY O’CONNELL fonds–1980’s – 8 photos on 4 sheets (20×25 cm.)
(A.19.04 a-d) – Loc. A-H-9 – Lacon photos 1980’s is 8 colour and b/w photos on 4 letter size sheets of the old Reg Lacon property at the end of Lacon Road taken by Paddy O’Connell in the 1980’s when she rented the property. The museum copies were reprinted by Pat Kelly in 2019.
