City West is presently installing fibre-optic service to Denman Island. The first telephone
service came to Denman Island in1908. Two telephones were established on the Island. Soon
a party-line system was added by the settlers and their locally owned system served them
well with two manual exchanges until 1961 when BC Tel added Denman Island to their network
